Learning at Home
At Croxby Academy, we aim to provide the children with the skills to become self-regulated and resourceful learners. To encourage this further, we have some suggestions to how you can help us at home.
Weekly Homework Expectations
EYFS and KS1 children are allocated reading books on Bug Club, which link to their phonic stage of learning. These should be read at least 3 times a week and the green bug comprehension questions attempted. These will be changed on a weekly basis. In addition to this, story time at home with a favourite book, which you can talk about, would also be a benefit and be something to enjoy together.
In KS2, children are expected to complete at least three Reading Plus reading assignments a week at home. These will be in addition to Reading Plus sessions within the academy. (Find out more about Reading Plus in the English and Maths section of the website.) In addition to this, children can also enjoy reading any book for pleasure. You can find online books to read on the websites below. Your children are also welcome to borrow books from our academy library or classroom library.

Each week, children will be set a new list of spellings to learn using the online platform Spelling Shed ready for their spelling test on a Friday. Children can access this each week to practise the spellings set by using their individual logins.
Children should access Times Tables Rock Stars weekly using the passwords provided to help them learn their times tables fluently.
Optional Extra Homework
Learning Beyond the Classroom
These booklets can be found on our academy website under #teamcroxby or by following the link: Learning Beyond The Classroom. They are personalised to each year group and cover a range of subjects and topics. Children can choose any activity to complete they wish. Once completed, please share with us what they have done via our Twitter page: @CroxbyPrimary.
Children can study a range of topics to gain knowledge, which can be found on our website in the #teamcroxby section or by following the link: Graduate Awards. They are constantly being added to due to the popular demand; children love studying for these and gaining new knowledge. Quizzes can be taken weekly via the Kahoot website and details of how to do this are also on #teamcroxby.
If you visit the #teamcroxby section of our academy website, you will find the curriculum plans for each year group, for the full academic year, along with knowledge organisers for each topic. These outline the topics and knowledge your children will be learning each term so you can discuss your child’s learning with them. These can also be found by following the link: The Croxby Way Curriculum
