    Medication in School

In line with the Trust's policy on ‘Supporting Learners with Medical Conditions’ and a recent review of Health and Safety advice, we would like to inform parents of the following details.

When a learner requires medication that is prescribed by a doctor for a long-term medical need, such as an inhaler, an Individual Health Care Plan needs to be filled in.

Please note: Throat lozenges are not permitted in school.

Sun cream is not classed as medication unless specifically prescribed. It is managed through the school's risk assessment process.

    Long-Term Medical Needs

If your child requires prescribed medication for a long‑term condition, such as an inhaler, an Individual Health Care Plan must be completed. Please email the school office for more information: office@croxbyprimary.co.uk.

    Over-the-Counter Medication

We are unable to administer non‑prescribed medication (e.g., pain relief). A parent/carer can come into school to administer this. Please arrange this in advance via office@croxbyprimary.co.uk.

    Wrap Around Care (Prescribed Medication)

If your child attends Breakfast Club or After School Club and takes prescribed medication 3 times a day, school may administer one dose during the school day. This does not apply to Croxby Activity Clubs or First Steps Clubs. Please contact the school office and complete the relevant consent form.

    Learners with Existing Plans

Children with medical/attendance plans or children with SEND who require medication relating to a diagnosed condition, please contact the office.
