Collective Reflection
Religious Education and Collective Worship at Croxby Primary School
At Croxby Primary School, we are committed to providing a broad and balanced education that respects and reflects the diversity of our community. As a non-denominational school, our approach to Religious Education (RE) and Collective Worship is designed to meet the requirements of the law while promoting shared values that unite us all.
Religious Education
Religious Education at Croxby Primary is delivered in accordance with the agreed syllabus for our local area, as required by the Education Act 1996. This syllabus reflects the Christian traditions of Great Britain while also considering the teachings and practices of other major world religions and non-religious views. Our RE curriculum encourages respect, understanding, and tolerance for different beliefs and fosters critical thinking about moral and ethical issues. It is not intended to promote any one religion over others, and we avoid any teaching that is distinctive of a particular denomination.
Collective Worship
As part of our commitment to the personal, social, spiritual, and moral development of our learners, we hold a daily act of Collective Worship at Croxby Primary. While the majority of this worship is 'broadly Christian in character' (in line with legal requirements), it is a valuable time each day for learners to reflect on important values such as kindness, honesty, compassion, tolerance, and respect. Through Collective Worship, we encourage learners to think critically about their personal values, their role in our diverse society, and the positive contributions they can make to the community. This time provides an opportunity for open discussion about moral and ethical issues, promoting understanding and empathy while reinforcing our shared responsibilities to one another. We aim to inspire reflection on how these values shape our everyday lives and interactions.
Parental Rights
We respect the right of parents to withdraw their child from Religious Education and/or Collective Worship if they so wish. If you would like to withdraw your child from either of these activities, please contact the school office: office@croxbyprimary.co.uk to discuss the arrangements.
At Croxby Primary, we strive to provide an inclusive, thoughtful, and respectful environment for all our learners, where everyone can learn, grow, and flourish.
