It is always an exciting and anxious time, in equal measure, when a child starts school. Here at Croxby Primary School we recognise that and do all we can to ensure that children (and parents!) feel as welcomed and familiar with their new surroundings as possible.

Our partnership with Cottingham Children’s Centre and other
pre-school providers supports families in making the transition to Primary School and our ‘Stay and Play’ sessions, mean that children and families get to know the staff and their environment as well as key information about starting school.

Our home visits, though optional, are an essential part of the transition programme and help us gain a much better understanding of your child’s needs and their interests. We use this information to ensure our bespoke displays and activities are tailored to children’s interests to really engage
our youngest children in learning from the day they arrive.

We operate an early admission programme which means that children begin school in the term after which they are four and this usually means they begin full time in September of the Academic Year.

If you feel that a more bespoke package is required for your family then please contact Mr Waterson as soon as possible. However, we recognise that this is a busy and tiring time for children and our phased induction caters for their needs over the first two weeks back in the Autumn term.
